Whether you are newly self-employed or have been trading for years, start with a clear picture of your records and what support you want. We can discuss regular bookkeeping, annual figures and tax-return preparation as separate tasks or a combined service.
Start with the records you already have
Tell us how you invoice customers, receive payments and keep receipts. Online sales, cash receipts and other payment channels all need to be understood. If records are incomplete, explain the periods involved so catch-up work can be scoped rather than hidden in a standard quote.
Prepare for your tax return
Your trading records may not be the only information relevant to your return. Mention employment, property or other income during the scoping conversation. We agree the records required, resolve questions and explain the prepared figures before you approve submission.
Plan your digital record keeping
Digital reporting requirements depend on your circumstances. Check HMRC’s current Making Tax Digital guidance and discuss your position before selecting software. A service assessment is not a decision on whether you must register or use a particular reporting system.
Before we start
Can I get help with just my return?+
Yes. We will review the records and agree return preparation separately from regular bookkeeping. Any additional catch-up work is identified before it begins.
What if I am not yet trading?+
Use the initial conversation to explain your plans and record-keeping needs. The appropriate structure and registrations require a review of your circumstances.
Meet by appointment at our Oldham office, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, or discuss remote support. We also support Manchester businesses; we do not operate a Manchester city-centre office.
